Happy (almost) Summer!
The weather is heating up, and so are we! We hope you all have been staying cool, because we’ve been getting real sweaty as we continue this build. But the sunburns and heatwaves have been well worth it. We have made some great progress over the last month!
Our solar panels have been mounted and are fully functional, we’ve put in a whole lot of electrical work and lighting, and have begun work on plumbing for the bathroom and kitchen. The bus is really starting to feel like a home. We even let Miracle do a little painting, as long as we assured Constance that not a drop would get on her clothes. She did a fantastic job (on both the painting and keeping the clothes clean).
As we continue through this project, we want to take a moment to thank our local donors for their tremendous support. Renogy, Sunrun Solar, Ashby Lumber, Channel Lumber, and and Home Depot El Cerrito have all given generous donations to our project. The materials they have provided kept our project going despite a really tight budget. We are truly grateful to be supported by businesses within our own community.
We’ve come so far this past year, and we are in the final stretch. However, we are still seeking material donations. We are now reaching out to you all, our followers and fellow community members, in hopes to procure the final missing pieces. We’ve been continuing this project with volunteer labor from our contractor and electrician, but we still need the following materials to finish up:
- 4 doors
- drawers and drawer slides
- foldeable full-sized bed (sleeper sofa)
- finishing materials (trim)
- refridgerator
- pellet stove heater system
- skylight
We are seeking individuals and/or businesses who are able to donate these materials to our project. If you or anyone you know would be able to donate these items, please contact either of our project managers:
Shane: shanebwright@berkeley.edu
Abigail: akirk321@berkeley.edu
We are so close to finally giving Constance’s family the home they deserve. We cannot, and will not, stop now. We are deeply grateful for any support in serving the community. Thank you for keeping up with our journey and continuing to demonstrate your passion for our cause.
Keeping fighting the good fight!
– Abigail
